Founded by a career nanny who worked for other companies in the same vein, we believe that every human has innate value. Our company was built with this idea in mind. We do more than say our babysitters are valuable; we want them to feel that, which is reflected in the structure of our company

My name is Christin Karr, and I’m the founder of San Francisco Sitters. I have been a professional caregiver for over 10 years, working with children aged newborns to teenagers of all abilities.
I started my caregiving journey when I was only a teen, helping my single mom raise my two younger siblings. It’s something that’s always come naturally to me. My deeper interest in the field started very young when I asked my mom if I could read from her pile of parenting books. She obliged and I poured over the first book, reading it alongside a dictionary that weighed as much as me at the time. In my mind, I was a co-parent to my mom and a full-time parent to my baby dolls (from human baby dolls to pony stuffies that also fit in diapers).
As Valedictorian of my Pepperdine class, I maintained a 4.0 GPA while working in caregiving positions. I worked for a number of nanny and babysitting agencies and always felt the disconnect between the agency side and the caregiving side. My dream is to help bridge that gap with a company that leads with kindness, compassion, and respect. I’ve worked as a full-time nanny for a number of families from a variety of backgrounds. My experience and passion for the childcare industry led to the creation of San Francisco Sitters.
